August 12, 2015
It has taken me over 6 weeks to write this letter. The reason this took so long, is I have not been able to live in my house since June 16, 2015. We finally moved back in on August 1st. On June 16th my wife and I returned home from a doctor’s visit and discovered our entire 1 story house (approx. 2400sf) was covered in 2 to 3 inches of water. We immediately notified our house insurance company (AAA of Arizona). The drying out process started within 3 hours of us reporting the problem to the insurance company. It was discovered that the water leak came from a CULLIGAN installed, and maintained Cold Water Charcoal Filter housing. The unit had a 3 inch split at the O ring area. This unit had just been service by CULLIGAN of Tucson in April of 2015, when a new charcoal filter was installed. On Tuesday June 23rd, my wife and I drove to the offices of Culligan of Tucson. We asked to see the manager to discuss our problem, but we were told that he or she was on a conference call and not available. The receptionist then contacted a person from the shop part of the office. It took about 30 minutes for a person named MARK (we did not get his last name). I showed him the unit, and he seemed not very interested in what he was looking at. He then asked my wife and me what we were doing there and what was I looking for. I informed him that I could not sue CULLIGAN as I had already had my insurance taking care of the damage. The receptionist then informed Mark that the unit had just been service in April. I then informed Mark that all I was looking for was that Culligan reinstall the unit at no cost to me. Mark Stated “that not going to happen” And that I bought the unit, I owned it and they were not going to do anything. That was the end of the conversation as Mark then walked away without another word. As Mark was walking away I said “it sure has been nice trying to work with you”. You will notice that no other proposal of help was offered by Mark, just “you bought it, you own it”. This from a company that, sold it, installed it and serviced it on a regular basis.
My wife and I were very disappointed in the way we were treated, as we have had Culligan install and service our Water Softener, Water Purifier, and the Cold Water Charcoal Filter since 2007. We thought they would, at a minimum, offer some sort of help.

Bad Water Softener
Had a water softener installed in 2009. In 2 years the internal seals were bad and had to be replaced for $499.
Now after 7 years the main inlet (from the city) and outlet (to the house) water seals that were installed by Culligan are bad. The seals are rotted and remnants of the seals are coming into the drinking water. It's amazing Culligan would install seals with such poor quality. The seals were also swelled and blocking approximately half the water flow.
Culligan wants another $799 to replace the seals. I realize this is 7 years later.
But why would they use parts so poor that would only last 7 years. I've never lived in a house old or new that any of the water supply plumbing had to be replaced.

Culligan International Company Technical Support Review from Brussels, Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest
Resolved: Shoddy plumbing/installation
I had a water filter installed on my main water line, which draws from an underground stream. The canister was installed without the use of any wall brackets in an 'L' configuration--one pipe going into the filter on top and one running out on the bottom, both PVC pipes running perpendicular to the wall.
The clearance between the bottom of the canister and the bottom pipe was so small that the canister could not be unscrewed without putting pressure on the bottom PVC joint and torque on the top joint. Needless to say, the joint popped. Culligan headquarters agreed to repair the system on a Saturday by contracting a local plumber who came out that same day. Months later, Culligan local decided to charge me, claiming that I broke the pipe.

Don't leave your doors unlocked! My husband called to set a date for Culligan and he was informed of an approximate date(s), between one day of the week to another and would call when theu know they're coming.
No call received, I'm a stay at home mom, nocall to me or my husband. All doirs licked but one, I'm upstairs, heard nothing, no knock nothing, until I head out of my bedroom and I hear someone in my house. Set the fear of God into me. I just stayed upstairs, thought of calling the police. Looked out to see if there was a car and was afraid to even do that, in case someone saw me look out the window.
Once seeing it was Culligan's van, I didn't feel better as I thought who would just enter a house without authorization, and come in a side door as all other doors were locked. Once he left, I called the company out of Ashland, Wisconsin and the female that answered the phone said he called her to say no one is answering the door, did not ask him to call, but told him to find a door that was open and yell inside "Culligan" before entering, but to go in dedpite no one is home. She continued to say they do this all the time, some say it's ok, others never even know they are walking into tjei house uninvited.,
After calling Corporate, they concurred that they know thst their companies in small towns are entering homes if a door is left open despite not being authorized to do so.
Their employees are at risk of being shot, bit by gaurding dogs or sued by homeowners. Theirs also a risk of theft by employees who know no one is home. Not everyone at home is right there to hear or see that there's an individual in their home unannounced. Just because "they" know they're from Culligan doesn't justify entering a private home without permission, and will have to accept any repercussion a homeowner may percieve as a threat. CALL WITH A DATE AND TIME OF ARRIVAL, DO NOT TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO ENTER A HOME WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. HAVE RESPECT FOR LOCKED OR SHUT DOOR WITHOUT SOMEONE BEHIND THAT DOOR..PUT YOURSEKF IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES FINDING A STRANGER WALKING THROUGH YOUR HOME.

HORRIBLE RIP OFF
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I had an err1 code blinking on a $2500.00 unit.
I called Culligan and asked what I should do. They advised they needed to schedule a service call. That was almost a 2 week wait. The guy shows up, tells me "You need to unplug the unit, let it sit for 5 minutes, and plug it back in to reset it.
That will be $147.00." I said, "your telling me its costing me $147.00 for you to tell me to unplug the unit and plug it back in to re-set it?" He said "yes, that's the cost of the service call.". THIS IS A DISHONEST RIP OFF BUSINESS.
They could have told me that over the phone but they choose to rip people off instead. Go anywhere but this Culligan!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
We have been getting water from Culligan for the past 6 months. Every single month I have to call and have the driver come, even though the driver is scheduled to come and drop off water he NEVER shows up on his own.
I ALWAYS have to call and make sure they remembered us. We have ran out of water every single month and when we tell the driver to leave us more water, he is always SUPER RUDE!! like if he was giving us the water for free. We are a serious company, trying to run a business, the last thing I want to do is have to check up on the water delivery every month.
It is ridiculous!!! We are so fed up with the rudeness of every single person I speak with from Culligan.
They need to learn how to treat a customer and if they're going to provide a service, then they need to do it to the highest standards. CANCELLING BOTH ACCOUNTS TODAY!!!!

Culligan Water System Review from Fort Lauderdale, Florida
My wife and I were contacted by a, Salesman named Regan Paton who asked to meet with us to try a Culligan Water System. He called to confirm the appointment and we even took the morning off from work to meet with him at our home.
He did not show up. When we tried calling him, he refused to return our calls. We were very upset considering Culligan of Nokomis Florida did not value our time, nor did Mr. Regan Paton.
We are very we are dissspointed and will try another water company.
We wish to not be contacted and want to remain anonymous as we no longer want to be contacted by anyone with Culligan Water System.

Culligan Water Testing Review from Manchester, New Hampshire
We took a well water sample in to have a comprehensive water test. The firm took our money ($125) knowing that the sample was not taken using their water kit and instruction set.
We had no idea until we spoke to experts in the field that this test would be bogus.
The firm should have rejected the same from our kitchen faucet and provided the proper test kit and instruction set to allow us to take the test properly
When we called to explain that the agent was rude and told us "good luck getting a refund". I would not recommend using this firm
